Getting Ready For A New School Year

Hey Readers, have just one more week before classes start. Pretty excited. Have a busy schedule but I should be able to handle it. Yesterday, I came down to Springfield with my brother Jeremy and his two friends, Jordan and Dez. We came down a week early to get them all moved into their new house. I will be crashing with them until I am able to move into the dorms. Yep, you read right. I will be moving into the dorms. It's not too bad being a twenty-nine year old in a dorm full of early twenty-somethings. It's actually kind of hilarious.

I really like being around them. They have an interesting point of view on the world. It's kind of refreshing. They are so ambitious and ready to take on the world which is different from some of my late twenty, early thirty friends, who are already in the world and feeling a bit defeated by it. The world can be overwhelming when you're REALLY in it. But this is something that my dorm mates will learn as they complete school and get out there.

How do I feel about being SO old amongst all these “young-ins”? I feel alright. Most of the time people don't really know just how old I am since lovingly I do not look my age. Plus, I am quite laid back and like to take things as they come along.

But I am really excited for this semester to start. I have two more years to complete my own studies and then I will be back out in those mean streets. I am taking 15 hours this semester, sitting as a Senator for the Student Government Association, and VP of Membership for my sorority. So, this semester will be pretty busy.

I will try to tell you more about my studies and experiences at school.

Ciao for now!!!!

Judge strikes down California's ban on same-sex marriage - CNN.com

I'm so glad that the ban has been lifted. I actually do hope that this case does make it to the Supreme Court. I think it would be great to finally grant everyone the right to live and love the way they want. Wouldn't that be amazing???!!!

My skin feels amazing.....

OK..... so here is my first product review. I have been in the market for some face cream for some time. I've never really had a routine and didn't really know what to put on my face. So, yes, all this time I have just been using soap. And how did it make my face feel? Well, dry and yucky. I will say that I have been blessed with having fairly nice skin but I want more. I hate the dry feeling I get after washing and the heavy feeling I get after putting lotion on.

So, yesterday I was more determined than ever to find something to try. A product that I found time and time again with pretty good reviews was Pond's cold cream. Also, it's dry skin moisturizer. I did some research and found that not only has this product been the same for MANY years but it's also reasonably priced at my local Walgreens (actually it was on sale). With the price being right I decided to pick them up and give them a try. Why not.

So last night, following the directions exactly I applied the cream, wiped it off, then applied the moisturizer. I must say that even before I applied the moisturizer my skin felt really good. Nice and light and airy (if that makes sense).

And this morning.... my skin felt amazing. I was surprised. After showering, I washed with the cream and moisturized and went about my day. I didn't apply any makeup today because I wanted to see how the moisturizer felt. But I think it is light enough were it can be under make up. I will definitely test that out tomorrow. And right now at the end of the day, before I start my new routine my face still feels amazing. Smooth and moisturized. I never felt a need all day to re-moisturize. So, to anyone with dry sensitive skin. Go ahead and give this a try. I'm glad I did. :D

An update of my vacation......

Hey dear readers.... sorry I was not able to keep you as updated as I had hoped. When we were in Los Angeles the hotel did not have WIFI. Weird I know... considering some of the cheaper hotels did offer free WIFI. Oh well. So most of my posting was via twitter on my phone. So, please follow me @teena0708 for the best and most up to date information. Anyway. I had quite a vacation.

Friday we went to Disneyland which was total fun. I got to ride the rides that I wanted Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, the Teacups, and a few others. I have been to Disney World so now I can say that I have been to both. Now to visit the Disney parks all over the world. That would be awesome.

Anyway. Saturday was a pretty chill day. My mom and I took the bus to the beach. Fun times. When we got to Huntington Beach, I was SO ready to just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. The main street leading up to the beach was filled with people going into little boutiques and restaurants and bars. There were even protesters there asking drivers for honks if they liked marijuana. (They got a lot of honks!) The water was ice cold but the sun felt really good so I sat on the beach with my mom and read a book I had brought for this trip. Later, my Dad, Aunt Glynis and Cousin Tracy, came to sit a while then drive us back to the hotel. I was just SO happy to be at the beach.

We made it back to the hotel for the family reunion banquet. It was very well done. The food was fantastic and the program was great. I had no idea that there were so many family members on the West Coast. I guess I forget sometimes how large my family really is.

Sunday morning we woke to have breakfast with family and thus decided that the next family reunion would be in St. Louis. I wonder who will plan this one. Most likely my Dad. He seems to be the go to guy for this kind of stuff. We'll see. Although, I wouldn't mind being part of the committee.

The rest of Sunday I spent chillin around the hotel then off to the mall to shop and have dinner. It was nice to just relax and not HAVE to be somewhere.

Monday was a day of great excitement. We woke up SUPER early to make our way downtown to the CBS studios for a chance to get on the Price is Right. Well we got our tickets, went to get some breakfast then made our way through the long and gruesome process of becoming contestant/audience members of the popular game show. We filed into the studio and prepared for the show. It was absolutely amazing being in there... ESPECIALLY my Dad was called down to the contestant row. He was one of the first four to be called down. Yep! He won the first bid for a dirt bike. It was totally crazy. Unfortunately he did not win the game he was playing (prize being a Ford Ranger). But hey what can you do. He did win a bike and money. Fun times!

After the show we went to eat then made our way to San Diego. It had been a good twenty years since I have been down there. Yep, twenty. Wow, that made me feel real old. LOL. We drove past my childhood home. I was surprised how it still pretty much looked the same. But everything looked small. I guess because when you're young everything looks bigger. It was too hilarious.

The next day was pretty chill. We pretty much stayed at the hotel while my dad went to a job fair. After he got back we went out to lunch then walked around Old Town. It was really nice. Hit up some souvenir shops then made our way to the beach. It was SO nice and SO cold. I totally put on my new pink hoodie to keep warm. It was nice watching the waves come in and pick up some sea shells on the water.

After which we went downtown San Diego. We ended up at Seaport Village where we saw a sword swallower then stopped at a restaurant that was a pier. It was very pretty looking over the water.

Heading back to the hotel I knew that this was our last day. The next day would be a traveling day and I would be back in the STL. And when I got back I felt it as soon as I got off the plane. I called my brother telling him I left San Diego wearing a hoodie now I was in St. Louis not doing a thing and sweating bullets. Oh how I dream of California. Till we meet again...
